The Perfect Downsize: Barbara Hataway’s Story

Change is never easy, but the right transition to the right place at the right time can bring about positive change and new beginnings.
Barbara and her late husband lived in the same house for 35 years on the north side of Edmond. They loved having land, and cherished the memories made in their home together and with their granddaughters they adopted over 25 years ago. So, in her words, when Barbara decided that it was time to move to a smaller home closer to town, “I didn't know if I’d find something easily”.
However, Barbara had met Tracey at church, and knew that if anyone could help her find a place for the next phase of life, it was Tracey.
On the third home that they toured, Barbara walked in said, “I walked into the house, and I knew it was mine”. Tracey had worked to find exactly what she needed.
This new home has 2 bedrooms on one side of the house, and a master bedroom and fourth bedroom on the other side of the house which is perfect for when her granddaughters and great-granddaughter stay with her. It also has a smaller yard to maintain, a cozy fireplace in the living room, and a beautiful kitchen with an island. Not only is the house perfect, but the neighborhood has clubhouses, pools, and playgrounds for her great-granddaughter, and is close to her friends and church.
The home was a brand new build, so Tracey even negotiated with the builder to get a standing safe room put in, and make sure that they finished an incomplete gate. Barbara loved that “Tracey took care of all of the inspections and came by multiple times to make sure everything was done.”
While it’s hard to move from a place that has been home for 35 years, it’s much easier when you know the next house can and will become the perfect home for your current season.
